(Page 60)

Located on the first story and the basement of a commercial complex in Harajuku, Tokyo, LAS DOS CARAS serves modern Mexican cuisines, as a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle in the trendy neighborhood. Two floors of the restaurant are designed differently in the taste, for the main design theme is ”duo” or duality. The basement is a bit formal dining and the first floor welcomes even grouped customers. A concrete “communication table” is in the center of the first story and it is surrounded by big tables in a relaxed way.
One of impressive things of interior-design-wise is mosaic patterned wall decoration of two masks of wrestler Máscaras brothers in the basement.

This is FENDI’s new big-scale pop-up store in Ginza, Tokyo.
Based upon a motif of Palazzo della Civilt, the store facade has iconic arches. Entering the entrance, you will see, on the ground floor, Karl-Lagerfeld-character KARLITO and an Italian tricycle car APE. In the basement, a lot of fur items, FENDI’s DNA, are stored and there is a mini theater, which shows connection between the brand and the film world. The second floor deals men’s items and the environmental design motif got inspiration from Beats headphone that collaborated with FENDI for winter/summer collection 2015. In the stairwell a huge object “fur tree” is installed created by flower artist Makoto Azuma.

ON.GEN.

( Page 136)

Bar “ON.GEN.” is located on the ground floor of an old building on a corner of street in Ningyo-cho, Tokyo. It is operated by Kouji Shimura who has another bar “shimuraya (est in 2006)” in the neighborhood. Both of bars were designed by Shigemasa Noi. As the first one used a lot of cedar boards from Obi, Miyazaki prefecture, this new ON.GEN. is also composed of Obi cedar as the main material. The ceiling, walls, table, and stools are all made of the cedar. The table is pre-fabricated. Every detail, like position of square timbers on the ceiling and lighting plan, is done by the interior designer by himself on the spot and the show high quality.

FEATURE ARTICLE 1/Bar & Club

LOVE VS MONEY

(Page 139)

This club lounge is located in Kita-shinchi, a classy downtown in Osaka and it is justly proud of its fashionable space, music, staff’s garments and services. A runway goes to the main hall and a huge logo is in the center. On the walls, art-modules of five faces of historical figures are displayed. Baccarat chandeliers and crystal cylinders add a touch of class to the interior and purple light and color used here and there remind some of us an atmosphere of a dance club in the era of so-called bubble economy. Near the hall, there are VIP rooms. The designer considered particularly likability and usability for staff and female casts.

FEATURE ARTICLE 2/Food Store

RITUEL PAR CHRISTOPHE VASSEUR Jiyugaoka

(Page 178)

RITUEL is a boulangerie of French boulanger Christophe Vasseur. He is famous for his breads, corrosion among them, and plates of escargot done by traditional French cooking with domestic organic materials. There are two RITUEL in Tokyo and the one is in Jiyugaoka and the other one in Omotesando. Both establishments were designed, upon a theme of making promenades to attract people, by French architectural firm l'Atelier Giguet. A stone-paved promenade-like area and agreeable curved walls are impressive, which remind us of lines of croissant and white parts evokes wheat flour. Some walnut parts of the interior echo to baked goods. Everything corresponds to products of RITUEL.
