(Page  108)

Opening in a suburb of Maebashi city, Gunma prefecture, JINS
PARK is a local-based eye wear shop. It was designed based on
the concept of a “park” where anyone can stop by, especially
children and their parents. In order to make it a place to visit on a
daily basis, it has not only an eyewear store, but also a bakery
cafe “EVERYPAN”. The exterior looks like a rectangular box with
reddish brown copper shingles. Inside, there is a JINS eye wear
shop on the right, a bakery cafe on the left, and a grand staircase
in the center that leads to the hall on the second floor. People can
sit on the stairs. Here, the series of three-dimensional spaces
leading to the front yard, the stores on the first floor, the grand
staircase, and the plaza on the second floor are defined as a “park”.

passage across the site. The establishment uses local lumber as
frames and louvers, which makes a see-through buffer zones to
blur the boundary between the outside and inside. The building
does not completed only on the premises and is open to the city.
Now the local people hold events and wedding ceremonies and

locations in Tokyo, mainly around the New National Stadium. It
was planned as one of the projects of Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL,
which aims to promote Tokyo, the host city of the Olympic and
